Sticker MosaicTechnique

A mosaic or "windowpane" techniqe gives a new look to a stamped area.  Make it fast and easy by using self-adhesive address labels!

Technique Supplies:  Self-adhesive address labels, rubber stamps, ink, cardstock

Basic Supplies:  Paper Trimmer, Scissors, ruler, pencil

Step 1:

Determine how many address labels you will need to cover your cardstock surface  (suggested spacing is 1/8").  Cut the appropriate amount of stamps from your label sheet (do not separate them).

Use your rubber stamps and ink to stamp your image over the address labels.

~The Stampin'Up! sample uses 1"x2 5/8" Address Labels.  Cut a block that is 3 labels high by 2 labels wide.  Sponge Soft Sky Classic Ink across all the labels.  Use the sentiment stamp from the Serene Sunflowers Stamp Set with Soft Sky ink across all the labels.  Next randomly stamp the sunflower image over the stamps using Summer Sun Classic Ink for the large petals, More Mustart Classic Ink for the smaller petals, Chocolate Chip Classic Ink for the sunflower center, and Old Olive Classic Ink for the leaves.

Step 2:

Use a pencil to mark your top line on your cardstock.  Line up the first row of labels below the line, spacing evenly. Continue marking lines and placing labels until the cardstock is covered.

~The sample uses a 5.25"x4" piece of Soft Sky cardstock as the base for the mosaic technique. Draw your first pencil line 1/8" lengthwise from the top of the cardstock.  Place your top two labels under this line --match the outer edges of the labels with the edges of the cardstock.  Mark your next line 1/8" from the bottom of your first row of labels.  Place the middle row of labels under this line.  Repeat the process once more.  HINT:  Use the Stampin' Up! Perfect Layers Tool to easily mark the 1/8" lines as shown in the pictures--this accessory retires on December 31st--order yours before supplies are gone!!

Step 3:

Finish your card with a ribbon accent or other accessories.

~The sample uses a card base (5.5"x8.5" folded in half) made from Old Olive cardstock.  Insert two Square Fire Rhinestone brads between your mosaic labels as shown in the sample photo.  Attach the mosaic piece to the upper section of the card base (leave an even mat around the top and side edges).  Use the Double Rectangle punch to make holes along the bottom section of the Old Olive card base. Weave Whisper White Organdy ribbon through the punches (see sample photo).  Use the Photo Corner Punch to add accents in Old Olive and More Mustard Cardstock to the top corners.

Alternate Mosaic Method:  Cut a  3"x5 1/4" piece of light cardstock and stamp the same images on it.  Then cut the cardstock into 6 pieces--each  1"x2 5/8" like the address labels.  Apply them to a piece of cardstock as described in Step 2 using adhesive.
