Paper Piecing Technique

Line image stamps are a versatile addition to any rubber stamp collection.  There are so many great ways to color them in: watercolor crayons, markers, chalks, inks.  But don't forget another simple way to "color" in those images---paper piecing!  It may not be the first option that crosses your mind, but a bit of stamping and cutting can take your project in a whole new direction!

Technique Supplies:  Line image rubber stamps, ink, colored or patterned paper

Basic Supplies:  Paper Trimmer, Scissors, adhesive

Instructions:

Stamp the image that you are going to "paper piece" on your choice of colored and patterned paper (one image will be your "base").  Carefully cut the required areas from each stamped image.  Re-assemble the pieces on your stamped base image.

~The Stampin'Up!® sample uses the "elephant" stamp from Happy Heart Day.  This image was stamped with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on Regal Rose cardstock, Certainly Celery Prints Designer Series Paper (striped pattern) and Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper (pink polka dot).   Cut the elephant from the polka dot paper and the hearts from the Regal Rose cardstock.  Glue these pieces to the corresponding area on the Certainly Celery paper (the "base"). Color the elephant's toenails and the center of the flower image with a Regal Rose marker.

The Coluzzle cutting tool was used to create all the cardstock/paper circles.

Did you notice?  Using circles on a project is a fun change from the usual straight lines and squares.  Give it a try!
